The Unhurried Pace of Coastal Flagler County

Living in Flagler County Florida has changed quite a bit since my family moved here in 1985. I’ve had the opportunity to watch Palm Coast grow from a much smaller community into the city it is today, while still holding onto many of the things that made this area special in the first place.

What I enjoy most about Palm Coast is the pace of everyday life. We’re close to the ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, parks, walking and biking trails, golf courses and plenty of places where you can simply get outside. A morning walk over the Flagler Beach bridge, a bike ride along one of Palm Coast’s trails, or an afternoon near the water can all be part of a normal day here.

Living in Flagler County Florida: A Coastal Lifestyle Without the Big-City Feel

Palm Coast has grown tremendously, but it still doesn’t feel like a major Florida city. Neighborhoods are spread throughout the community, with mature trees, canals, golf courses and preserved natural areas woven between them.

Flagler Beach is only a short drive from much of Palm Coast and has a personality all its own. You’ll find locally owned restaurants, the Atlantic Ocean and a laid-back beach-town atmosphere without the wall of high-rise development found in many other Florida beach communities.

Location Is One of Palm Coast’s Advantages

Another thing I’ve always appreciated is where we’re located. St. Augustine is to the north, Daytona Beach is to the south, Jacksonville is within reach, and Orlando makes for an easy day or weekend trip. Yet when you come back home, Palm Coast feels removed from the congestion of those larger areas.

A Community I’ve Watched Grow

I’ve seen new neighborhoods, businesses, schools and amenities arrive over the years. My own children grew up here, so my perspective on Palm Coast goes well beyond real estate. It’s the community where I’ve lived, raised a family and built my career.

That’s also why I created this Local Favorites section. I want to share more than property listings. I’ll use it to highlight the beaches, trails, restaurants, neighborhoods and little corners of Flagler County that I think are worth knowing about.

If you’re considering living in Palm Coast Florida, take some time to explore beyond the homes for sale. Drive through the different neighborhoods, visit Flagler Beach, walk a trail, stop somewhere local for lunch and get a feel for the area. That’s the best way to understand what living here is actually like.
